The Alley Arts Centre requires arts practitioners to assist with the delivery of a project entitled ‘Stagewrite’, including choreographers and performing arts specialists.
‘Stagewrite’ is a unique project delivered by the Alley Arts Centre in partnership with the North West Regional College (NWRC).
The ‘Stagewrite’ project has been designed to enable primary schools within Strabane District to participate in a performing arts festival that will enable schools to develop new skills and confidence in the creation of new and exciting artistic product. This artistic product will be based on a theme extracted from the schools curriculum.
In the delivery of this programme the NWRC will be able to provide students from its drama and performing arts courses with an opportunity to apply their learning in working with the participating schools. This process will be an integrated and accredited part of their course work.
Students from Strabane based primary schools will be asked to engage in a creative writing project based on the theme of ‘My Perfect School’. Six of these stories will be chosen on the basis of their quality and potential as a stage production.
The six selected stories will be allocated to individual teams of NWRC students who will create a stage piece based on each of the short stories.
The NWRC students will move from the role as script writers to that of directors as they work with the pupils from the participating primary schools in workshops, technical and dress rehearsals and a final stage production in the Alley Theatre.
The project will begin in earnest on Monday 27th February with the first of the pre festival workshops in the Alley Theatre, Strabane and culminate in two performance evenings on Thursday 8th and Friday 9th March 2012.
The Alley is seeking quotations from suitably qualified and experienced individuals to assist the NWRC students in the successful delivery of this project. You will be required to participate in the preparation and delivery of workshops, rehearsals, technical rehearsals and the final production.
