“Remarkable” Future Search Conference comes to a close “but the work is just beginning” says Council Chairman
The Chairman of Strabane District Council, Councillor Kieran McGuire has praised all those involved in the Future Search Conference last week: “It was a remarkable three days in which we harnessed all that was great about Strabane District and created a real energy and enthusiasm to work together to make life here better for everyone. It was an amazing experience and I want to pay tribute to everyone who attended and participated in the conference. We now have to maintain this momentum and energy and work with others to make this vision a reality.”
Philip Faithfull, Chief Executive of Strabane District Council added “I have no doubt that only good will come from Future Search conference last week. We really showcased what is special and unique about Strabane District and that there is a vast amount of good work ongoing. I would like to thank everyone for their tremendous contribution to the conference. I look forward to working with everyone over the coming months in order to harness this good will and to bring Strabane District to a new level.”
Sandra Janoff, co founder of the Future Search methodology and facilitator of the conference said: “I am back in Philadelphia, and still feeling the power of the meeting and the potential of the community of Strabane District. I am thinking and talking about last week with great pride and admiration. It was as good a Future Search 3-day meeting as it gets.One of the participants already wrote to me saying that those were the “most remarkable 3 days I have had for a very long time” and that their group are firmly committed to their next steps. Strabane District has enormous potential energy in these groups. It was a honor to be part of creating Strabane District’s future.”
The planning committee are collating the information gathered at the conference and are meeting again within the next week to consider setting up working groups to progress the visions identified at the conference.
