Bready and District Ulster-Scots Development Association

 

Over the centuries, hundreds of people have emigrated from the Bready area and today the descendents of many of these individuals are now interested in finding out more about their forebears. Bready and District Ulster Scots Development Association have created a genealogical database containing thousands of records relating  to families from Bready and the surrounding area from the early 17th century. This can be accessed by going online to the Brady Ancestry website at the link below and is free of charge.

Glenelly Historical Society

Glenelly Historical Society was established in the spring of 2006 by a gathering of local people who had in common an interest in the recalling and recording of what has gone before in Upper Badoney (Badoney).The Society seeks to enhance an appreciation of the unique and diverse history of the Plumbridge and Cranagh areas.

Strabane Family History Society

In existence since 2005 Strabane Family History Society was established to provide a forum for members to discuss in a friendly atmosphere their family tree searches and to listen to invited experts.

The society welcomes everyone who is interested in family history and who wants to further their knowledge of this interesting and passionate subject.

Strabane History Society

The Strabane History Society was founded in December 1989 by a group of local school teachers to further the interest and knowledge of the history of the area.  The group later widened the circle of interest to include the general public and tap into the vast wealth of local expertise and interest in the community.

The Ulster History Circle

The Ulster History Circle is a small, voluntary, not for profit organisation that places commemorative plaques in public places, in towns and villages all over Ulster, in honour of men and women who have contributed to the Province's history. Since the first plaque was unveiled in the early 1980s a total of 140 individuals or places of note have been honoured including a significant number within Strabane District.
