Background:
The Strabane Local Strategy Partnership was established in December 2001 to administer grants through the EU Programme for Peace and Reconciliation. Against a backdrop of limited socio-economic growth, the Strabane Local Strategy Partnership have been responsible for the implementation of the Peace II Action Plan and are currently preparing it’s Peace III counter-part. In recent times, the LSP has developed a Mission Statement that will underpin the development of aims and objectives for all phases of the Partnership funding. The Partnership’s mission is to empower local people and communities by:
q Contributing to and shaping policy development and strategic planning in and for Strabane District Council
q Supporting efforts to address social exclusion and disadvantage
q Assisting people and communities to realise the economic and employment opportunities which peace brings
q Working to help build peace and advance reconciliation
Furthermore, the Strabane Local Strategy Partnership has developed, administered and implemented other European Programmes such as Area Based Regeneration. In addition, the Partnership is also delivering Non European Programmes notably Targeted Initiatives on behalf of the Department of Employment and Learning and the Local Community Fund & Neighbourhood Renewal Project, on behalf of the Department for Social Development.
