The Chairperson's Message
Welcome to the award winning, interactive website of Strabane District Council. Whether you are a customer, a local resident, or simply a friend of Strabane District Council, this website will keep you up to date about Council services, facilities and initiatives. Visitors to the district will also find it full of information about events, activities, accommodation and attractions.
This website also gives you a chance to let us know how well you think we are doing. You can send us your comments, complaints or even compliments about any aspect of Council business. We would also like to hear what you think about our website itself and how it can be improved.
We have the first council website in Northern Ireland to offer online purchase and hire facilities. You can now hire a skip and buy wheeled bins and dog licences on-line. We think this shows our commitment to making our services more accessible. Look out for future developments.
During my term of office as Chairman of Strabane District Council, I aim to do all in my power to develop the District and to improve the lives of all residents. I am keen to be involved and informed of the important issues affecting the local community and I pledge my support to all sections of the community.
I can assist in any of the following ways:
- Contacting other agencies on your behalf to seek resolution on an issue e.g. Roads Service, Housing Executive, Planning Service etc.
- Attending an event organised by a local group
- Recognising significant achievements of local individuals or groups
- Bringing important issues to the attention of Council
- Lobbying central government for changes to policy
