Strabane District Council supports local
Community Festivals

Strabane District Council through the Community Festivals Fund has provided funding support to the value of £24,000 to local festivals across the Council area.
The festivals being supported under this year’s programme include: Craic in the Brack, The ‘Rockin by the River’ Festival, Strabane Halloween Festival, Sion Mills Strawberry Fair, Newtownstewart Orangefest, St Patrick’s Day Festival and the Killeter Fair.

STRABANE DISTRICT COUNCIL PROVIDES
FINANCIAL SUPPORT TO LOCAL COMMUNITIES

A celebration event was held last week to mark Strabane District Councils funding contribution of approximately £260,000 to local community associations across the district in conjunction with the DSD’s Voluntary and Community Unit.

STATE OF THE ART ATHLETICS FACILITIES LAUNCHED
AT MELVIN SPORTS COMPLEX

Councillors, Council Officials and Sport Northern Ireland today launched the newly upgraded Athletics facilities at Strabane’s Melvin Sports Complex.
This facility which has been developed by Strabane District Council after funding was secured by Sport Northern Ireland under the Places for Sport Programme involved three aspects. The upgrading of a single lane long jump area into a four lane tartan surfaced 100m sprint area; the relocation and resurfacing of the long jump area and finally the resurfacing and upgrading of the javelin and throwing area also with a tartan surface.

REVIEW OF
COMMUNITY SUPPORT PLAN
2009 – 2011

Strabane District Council is currently reviewing the delivery of its Community Support Plan for the period 2009/2011.
As part of this review community groups/associations are invited to participate in one of the consultation workshops which are being organised across the district.
