‘VOLTAGE’ Strabane Laser Tag Championship

This month Strabane Community Safety Partnership will be providing their Summer Splash Youth Diversionary Programme called ‘Voltage’. Voltage is a FREE Laser Tag Championship, which will see district wide heats in eight different locations over a three week period. There are two sections of the competition. The Junior section caters for 10 to 16 year olds and the Senior section caters for 16-24 year olds. In each of the heats one team from each section will progress into the Championship Finals, which will be held in the Meadows pitch, Strabane.
The winning teams in each section will receive a T-Shirt and an Apple iPod Shuffle. The Laser Legend (the person with the most takedowns throughout the life of the tournament) will receive an Apple iPad.
The tournament is open to both boys and girls and teams can be mixed. Teams are required to have 5 players. Each game will last 10 minutes maximum and players will have 5 lives each. In each area there will be places for 8 teams to partake in the junior section and 8 in the senior section. Teams will be allocated places in the tournament on a first come first serve basis. As such teams are encouraged to pre register on the website www.theadventureteam.co.uk or by calling 028816 48390 to ensure that they do not miss out. There will be a Free Play session, where individuals, who are not part of a team, may participate.
The tournament was launched on Saturday 7th August, when Captain Voltage and his team, travelling on a Segway, visited Strabane Town, Sion Mills and Castlederg to hand out information on the event and to speak to people about the tournament.
The tournament will begin in Clady on Wednesday 11th August. It will continue in Donemana on Thursday 12th August and will be in Castlederg on 14th August. In week 2 Voltage will be in Plumbridge on Thursday 19th August, Sion Mills on Friday 20th August and Strabane Town on the 21st August. Week three will see the last of the heats in Magheramason on Thursday 26th August and Newtownstewart on Friday 27th August. The Championship Final will be held in Strabane Town on Saturday 28th August.
