MIDNIGHT STREET SOCCER IS COMING TO STRABANE
Strabane Community Safety Partnership will hold a Midnight Street Soccer competition in March and April in Melvin Sports Complex, Strabane and in Castlederg High School.
This project is co-funded by the PSNI and the District Policing Partnership.
The 5-a-side league will run on Friday nights from 9-12pm, and will last for six weeks, beginning on Friday 6th March 2009. Places are limited to 10 teams per facility and teams will be required to have seven players aged 14-18 years of age and a leader aged 18 or over. The winning teams will receive a full football kit, winners medals, and will travel to Dundalk in June to compete in the Midnight Street Soccer ‘5-A-Side Championship’ National Finals.
Midnight Street Soccer is a community football project that aims to provide opportunities for young people to take part in sport at the times when communities are vulnerable to crime and anti social behaviour.
This project is one of a number of initiatives that Strabane Community Safety Partnership are undertaking to tackle the issues of crime and anti social behaviour in your local area.
Midnight Street Soccer is managed by ‘Strabane Community Safety Partnership’ in association with the North Belfast Play Forum who developed the project in 2005.
Midnight Street Soccer is currently funded by Sport Relief.
Teams must complete Team Entry Forms and all players must complete Participant Registration Forms. The closing date for receipt of registration forms is 27th February 2009. The first 10 teams registered will be accepted.
