Strabane Community Safety Partnership held a graduation ceremony to mark the ending of one of the Empower Programme’s currently being delivered across the District. The programme which is being delivered by The Adventure Team, enables young people to address issues relating to antisocial behaviour and youth crime enabling young people to make life choices, and develop personal skills and abilities. The programme lasts 12 weeks, and takes place one day per week. The programme content included a wide range of activities including initiative tasks, trust exercises, river scrambling, Mountain Biking, Archery, First Aid, one night Residential, Laser Quest, Go Karting, and Coasteering.
Educational & personal development workshops were also delivered by the Emergency Services, Opportunity Youth, Strabane Job Centre, Youth Action, and the Prison Service, which gave the young people an insight into the role of these organisations, as well as providing career advice.
A third Empower Programme will begin within the next month, which will be delivered locally with engagement from young people from across the District.
